Toray Plastics (America), Inc., booth N3225, displays a wide range of polypropelene and polyester packaging advancements.

North Kingstown, RI (November 7, 2004) – Toray Plastics (America), Inc. presents technologically advanced, value-added precision performance OPP and PET packaging films at PackExpo International 2004, booth N3225. Featured technologies include new Torayfan® heat-sealable, metallized polypropylene PCFS film, new Torayfan® clear barrier polypropylene CBP and CBS films, and new Torayfan® ultra-thin, metallized polypropylene PCF2. The company also spotlights its Lumirror® polyester line, including new heat-sealable, printable, COF-enhanced, co-extruded PA25 and PA10 films.

“Converters and end users expect more from OPP and PET packaging films and the film manufacturer,” says Eric Bartholomay, product development manager. “Toray Plastics (America), Inc.’s technical and aesthetic advancements, including improved thermal, mechanical, and optical properties, can help business grow. Relying on a single source for high quality PET and OPP is not only convenient, it makes good business sense.”

Torayfan® Heat-Sealable Metallized OPP PCFS Replaces Foil and Sealant

  • · Next generation Torayfan® PCFS, made with a proprietary blend of polymers, replaces foil and saves converters time and money by eliminating the sealant extrusion coating step in the converting process. The new MOPP film has a low shear storage modulus (viscosity of the molten resin) that provides increased flow-ability and improved hermetic seals. PCFS also has exceptional moisture and oxygen barrier durability, as well as improved economics over traditional foil and sealant combinations. PCFS is now a preferred, brand-building packaging material for packet and stand-up pouch applications, including hot cocoa, seasoning, soup, rice, croutons, stuffing, dried cheese, and powdered beverages and nutrition/energy drinks.

Torayfan® Clear Barrier OPP CBP and CBS Replace PVdC-coated Films

  • · New Torayfan® Clear Barrier OPP CBP and CBS films, made with proprietary resins, are non-coated and have greater strength, improved feel, and equal moisture transmission rates compared to PVdC-coated films. Innovative CBS heat-sealable clear barrier film, and CBP non-sealable clear barrier film, designed specifically to replace PVdC-coated film, are ideal for packaging tortilla chips, extruded corn snacks, pork skins, crackers, cookies, oil-based confections, and pet food and treats.

Torayfan® Metallized Barrier OPP PCF2 Replaces Foil

  • · New Torayfan® ultra-thin, puncture-resistant, metallized barrier OPP PCF2 film provides exceptional moisture and oxygen barrier durability and improved economics over traditional foil. Converters and food manufacturers are able to create foil-free, aesthetically appealing, cost-effective, finished packets and stand-up pouches that have overall enhanced barrier durability. PCF2 is a preferred brand-building barrier packaging material for hot cocoa, seasoning, soup, rice, croutons, stuffing, dried cheese, and powdered beverages, nutrition/energy drinks.

Versatile Lumirror® PET PA25 and PA10 Films Add Value

  • · Among the variety of Toray Plastics (America), Inc. Lumirror® brand PET films on display are PA25 and PA10 advanced, heat-sealable, highly-printable, COF-enhanced, co-extruded films. These transparent modified PET films enable heat seals on multiple substrates, support brand-building graphics, and add value in shipping, handling, and storage. They are ideal for lidding, flow wrap, and large bag applications in food, drug, medical, agricultural, and pet food markets. Both are FDA-approved for direct food contact. PA25 and PA10 are also suited for industrial applications, including cable wrap, special lamination films, and brushed foil applications.
